Why You Don’t Need to Be Fit to Start

Why You Don’t Need to Be Fit to Start

Posted by Joseph Neill on

One of the most common things we hear:

“I want to get fitter before I start training.”

But the truth is, you don’t need to be fit to start. That’s what we’re here for.

We’ve had dozens of members tell us this on their consultation call, and they always surprise themselves within the first few weeks. It’s a bit like saying ‘I’ll clean the house before I hire a cleaner.

We Start Where You Are

Whether you haven’t trained in years or you’ve never set foot in a gym, we’ve got you. Our coaches assess your current ability, mobility, confidence, and goals, then build a plan that suits you.

Claire (SGPT): “I’d recommend The Lab to anyone. The trainers are brilliant. Whether you’re new or experienced, every session is tailored to you. I never dread coming in, I look forward to it and always leave feeling great.

We Make It Comfortable

Our city-centre space is friendly and welcoming. There are no intimidating crowds, no judgement, just support.

Samantha (SGPT): “Really enjoying my time at The Lab. Such a great group of trainers, and all the clients that attend.”

You’re never left feeling unsure. There’s always a coach around, and you’ll never be thrown into something unprepared. The best compliment we get? It just didn’t feel like a normal gym.

We Build Confidence Gradually

Progress isn’t just physical. You’ll learn, grow, and feel more confident every week. The wins stack up quickly when you’re consistent. And those wins go far beyond lifting weights.

Sarah (SGPT): “Wearing shorts out in public and not feeling as conscious as usual.”

Samantha (SGPT): “Bench pressed 30kg. When I first started I couldn’t even do the 20kg bar.”

Scott (SGPT): “Completed long conditioning for the first time since starting, plus I’ve been able to come off my blood pressure medication.”

These stories are real, and we hear new ones every week. Whether it’s finally doing a full press-up, running further than ever before, or feeling stronger carrying the shopping, the transformation is as much mental as it is physical.

We’re not looking for perfection. We’re looking for willing. If you’ve been putting it off, come see what we’re about.

You Don’t Have to Earn Your Place

You don’t need to be a certain shape, weight, or experience level to start training. You just need to show up, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Amanda (SGPT): “Lowest scale weight since August 2022.”

Lauren (SGPT): “Going up on dumbbell weights to 17.5kg… Strength is massively increasing. Thanks, Chelsea, for pushing me.”

Ready to Start?

You’re not behind. You’re just getting started.
